I continue to be amazed by the wonders of washing soda. The other day Ben asked me what to do to get the black tea stains out of his travel mug. I said “Maybe try soaking it in washing soda and water overnight.” This has become my go to response for tough cleaning projects.
The next morning, he came into me to report that the mug looked good as new when he washed it.
We have had similar experiences with greasy stove grates— I remember the first time I tried soaking the grates over night, I was blown away when the next morning the grease just slipped off when I washed them, like it was never stuck on to begin with.
So I’m sharing this article by the grandmother of the modern green-cleaning movement, Annie B. Bond.
